Where Is The Love Then

With everything happening in Iran, my heart has been heavy. As some of you may already know, I was born there, and my parents sacrificed so much so I could come to the US and live a life with freedom, opportunity, and a better future. Many of my family members were not given that same chance. They live under oppression, without true freedom of speech, without equal rights for women, and under an economy that makes everyday survival a struggle.
As grateful as I am for the life I have been given, I cannot ignore the pain of my people. The lives lost. The suffering. The fear. The silence. I carry it with me every day. I pray that God watches over everyone and brings healing, justice, and peace.
While traveling on a 15 hour flight to Australia, these emotions poured out of me. I wrote this song in the air, somewhere between countries, cultures, and hearts. It came from a place deeper than thought.
When I landed, I booked a studio session with James, a ten time Grammy Award winning producer, who believed in the message and helped me finalize the song in his studio. The next day, I visited Hosier Lane to see the street art. I was shocked to find the entire street art was dedicated to Iran. In that moment, I knew God had placed me there for a reason. This was bigger than coincidence.
I woke up at 5 AM the next morning and shot the video.
Very rarely does art come out of me without struggle. I am a slow writer and a picky artist. I usually wrestle with every word and every note. But with this song, everything aligned. The timing. The people. The places. The purpose.
This song was truly meant to be.
I pray for all my Iranian brothers and sisters. May God heal you, protect you, and bring love, justice, and freedom to you and to our future children.
